Countries of the World and the Coins Used by them

Chad

Chad has an area of 495,755 square miles (1,284,000 square kilometers) and has its capital at N'Djamena.

The territory was occupied by Germany, Great Britain, and France, and was divided among the three states. Following World War I, the German portion was added to France's portion in 1919.

When the colony of French Equatorial Guinea was dissolved in 1959, this paved the way for Chad to gain it's autonomy and, on 11 August 1959, it became an independent republic. Earlier coins in use in Chad were those used in the French Equatorial Africa and the Equatorial African States. The coins of the Central African States are also used in Chad.

Coinage

Franc - Multiples were issued that were struck in silver, gold, and copper-nickel.
